Preliminaries (Prelims)
Definition
Preliminaries, commonly called "prelims" in the UK construction industry, refers to the general, non-trade-specific costs associated with running a construction project. These include site management, temporary accommodation and welfare facilities, scaffolding, security, insurance, plant and equipment not allocated to specific trades, and contractor's overhead and profit.
In construction tendering, this means...
When a GC prepares a tender, prelims represent the overhead costs that sit above and around the trade work. Getting prelims right is critical, underpricing them is one of the most common causes of unprofitable construction contracts. In a Takshy RFQ, prelims can be broken out separately so each subcontractor understands which site costs are the GC's responsibility and which are theirs.
Takshy automates the parts of the tendering process that involve preliminaries (prelims), extracting scope, managing documents, and keeping your workflow organised from first document to final award.

Understanding the terminology is step one. Takshy handles the rest, from extracting scope from project documents to sending structured RFQs and managing the returns.
